Compatibility

Microsoft Word compatibility:

Microsoft Internet Explorer and other browser compatibility:

EasyWord can generate *.doc and *.rtf files 100% compatible with Microsoft Word.
EasyWord can directly read most Microsoft *.doc and *.rtf files. As well, the Microsoft Word Viewer and Open Source Word Processor are integrated into EasyWord, and can read just about all Microsoft 2.0 and higher Word files, if need be. (On the CD-ROM version these programs are automatically installed. Due to bandwidth constraints they are not included with the downloadable EasyOffice.)
Macro support, however, is not provided.
XML compatibility is expected by the end of 2005.

Regardless of what browser a user makes use of, EasyOffice requires access to the files in a recent copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher is not present, then EasyOffice will automatically install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5.

Microsoft Excel compatibility:

Co-existence with Microsoft Office and other office suites:

EasySpreadsheet can generate *.xls files 100% compatible with Microsoft Excel.
EasySpreadsheet can directly read most Microsoft *.xls files. As well, the Microsoft Excel Viewer and the Open Source Spreadsheet are integrated into EasySpreadsheet, and can read just about all Microsoft 2.0 and higher Excel files, if need be.
Macro support, however, is not provided.

Although EasyOffice is intended to be a full, standalone office suite, it can co-exist with Microsoft Office and other suites.
File associations can easily be adjusted by the user. For example, the user can choose whether Microsoft Word or whether EasyWord automatically opens a double-clicked *.doc file, and so on.

Microsoft PowerPoint compatibility:

Compatibility with Network usage:

EasyPresentation saves files in HTML/XML, the file standard of the future.
However, the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer and the Open Source Presentation Program are integrated into EasyPresentation, allowing EasyOffice users to view and print, and usually edit, just about any PowerPoint file. (On the CD-ROM version the PowerPoint Viewer is automatically installed. Due to bandwidth constraints it is not included with the downloadable EasyOffice.)
EasyPresentation files can be saved along with a copy of the EasyPresentationViewer, thus allowing any user, even without EasyOffice, to view the EasyPresentation file.

All EasyOffice applications will retrieve and save across most networks.
All EasyOffice applications automatically learn their user's habits. For example, if you save files onto the network, rather than to a local MyDocuments, this setting will automatically be remembered.
EasyOffice will run on both WindowsNT Terminal Server Edition and under Windows2000 Server Terminal Services.

The Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer is integrated into EasyWord, allowing users of EasyOffice to view and print Access Snapshot files.
A number of the features of EasyDatabase are greyed out. As more features become incorporated in EasyDatabase in 2005, these features will become active.

EasyVoice4 is 100% compatible with SAPI4 standards.
EasyVoice5 is 100% compatible with SAPI5.1 standards.
EasyVoice Pro is 100% compatible with SAPI5.1 standards.

Compatibility with WinZip and other Zip standards:

EasyZip and EasyWord are 100% compatible with WinZip *.zip files and *.zip files produced by other industry-standard programs.

EasyWord and EasySpreadsheet can save files in *.pdf format. These files are 100% compatible with programs that read Adobe PDF files.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader is integrated with EasyWord and EasySpreadsheet, and can read just about any PDF file.
The PDF Editor built into EasyWord can edit a subset of PDF features, but the feature set is expected to increase during the 2005 year.

Compatibility with HTML (web) files:

EasyWord and EasySpreadsheet can retrieve, save and e-mail HTML files.
Hyperlinks can be inserted in EasyWord documents.
EasyPresentation and Easy Web Page Creator produce standard HTML files.
An advanced mode in Easy Web Page Creator is currently not available.

WindowsXP Home/Pro Service Pack2 - compatible.
Windows Terminal Services - compatible. Voice recognition should not be used, voice synthesis use should be minimized, as should use of bit-mapped graphics in tutorials.
Windows Server 2003 -- This is a server operating system and EasyOffice has not been extensively tested on this platform.
Windows95/NT are no longer supported.
No Linux version available.
No Mac version available.

Depending on which programs are installed, EasyOffice Premium needs between 200MB and 900MB of hard disk space.

Pentium (or equivalent processor) 400 MHz, 64MB RAM -- EasyOffice Premium will work, but performance is slow.
Pentium (or equivalent processor) 800 MHz, 128MB RAM -- EasyOffice Premium will work. Programs contained in EasyOffice Premium optimized for older CPUs will work best on such computers.
Pentium (or equivalent processor) 1.4 GHz, 256MB RAM -- EasyOffice Premium works well. EasyVoice4 will give good performance, but EasyVoice5 and EasyVoice Pro will work, but will not be able to perform fluent speech recognition in real time.
Pentium (or equivalent processor) 2.0 GHz, 512MB RAM, Sound Card -- EasyOffice Premium works well. EasyVoice Pro is able to perform fluent speech recognition in real time.

Open Source Compatibility:

EasyOffice Premium will work on a wide spectrum of personal computers. EasyOffice Premium contains versions of a number of its main programs, optimized for use on older, slower hardware. The main versions of EasyOffice Premium programs run well at the 400 Mhz speed with 64MB of RAM. Higher performance computer hardware is useful for real-time fluent speech recognition.

EasyOffice is proprietary software developed by E-Press Corp.
Nonetheless, a large effort is made to ensure comptability with Open Source standards, as well as making where possible our files and projects as transparent as possible.
Good integration with the Open Source OpenOffice project exists.
Any changes made to utilized Open Source code are done so under the terms of the GNU General Public License, and all relevant source code is in turn provided (or link is provided) by E-Press Corp.
